Enhancing knowledge and developing the capabilities of students and teachers in the areas of food security and environmental management.

On November 15, 2023, a working group from the Thai Environmental Institute, led by Ms. Sutthasa Wongratch, project manager, and researcher, along with project staff, teachers, and student leaders from Ban Kanuan Nakhon School, Nong Ruea District, Khon Kaen Province, led by Mr. Ananwit Phuttha, the school director, collaborated to collect groundwater samples from the school. The samples will be analyzed for quality to plan a clean and sustainable drinking water system, powered by renewable energy. They also visited the Agricultural Innovation Learning Center at Khon Kaen University to study vegetable cultivation techniques, seedling transplantation, mushroom cultivation, low-water aquaculture, open-system egg farming, and the utilization of protein-rich insects (BSF).

The knowledge gained from this study tour will be applied to develop the school's agricultural plot based on sustainable agriculture principles, integrating the philosophy of a self-sufficient economy. This aims to promote food security, health, and a sustainable environment without the ongoing use of chemicals.

This activity is part of the project of developing a school model, supported by the Toyota Thailand Foundation and the Thai Environmental Institute.
