TEI supports ASEAN-Japan Centre on “ASEAN-Japan Eco School for Marine Plastic Waste Education”

In the collaboration of TEI, ERIA (Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia), and AJC (ASEAN-Japan Centre), “ASEAN-Japan Eco School for Marine Plastic Waste Education” or “Eco-School Project” was launched in September 2021 as a pilot project to support the ASEAN Regional Action Plan for Combating Marine Debris in the ASEAN Member States (2021-2025) Component III: Public Awareness, Education and Outreach.

On March 1, 2023, TEI together with Wachirawit Chiang Mai School, Wat Tapo-Tha-Ram School, and Suratthani Technical College as the Thai repetitive schools participated in “The 2nd ASEAN-Japan Symposium on Marine Plastic Waste Education”. The symposium featured student-led initiatives on marine plastic waste reduction and conservation of oceans from schools that have received the Eco-School lecture.

Thailand was considered one of the 9 countries participating in this project and had an opportunity to share the video presentation related to the school students’ behavior change after the Eco-School project. The video presentation was produced by Wachirawit saves the environment and energy club, Wachirawit Chiang Mai School, on the topic of “Sorting waste at the source, The way to save the earth begins with us”.
